Why it's in the Cabin

"Grace Notes" brings together 48 autobiographical poems, written in the years following Rita Dove’s Pulitzer Prize for Thomas and Beulah in 1987. Born in Ohio, the daughter of a chemist, Dove later studied in West Germany as a Fulbright scholar. In 1993 she was appointed U.S. Poet Laureate. She now lives in Virginia, where she teaches at the University of Virginia.
