Good Woman: Poems and a Memoir

Known for her simple, paired down, essential poetry. Twice finalist for the Poetry Pulitzer Prize, yet criminally underrated. Her work was profoundly emotional as well as political, and rooted in her experience as an Black woman. She said: “I would like to be seen as a woman whose roots go back to Africa, who tried to honor being human. My inclination is to try to help.”
