Early reprint of the first American edition. Harper & Row, New York, 1966. Introduction by Robert Lowell. Hardcover. Cloth binding has no significant faults, only very light shelfwear. Toning on the endpapers. Dust jacket has some age related toning. A light pinkish stain on the top left edge of cover, and top right of back cover. On the same spot, a 5mm closed tear. A very good copy in general.

This is a special copy, early reprint of one of the most influential collections of poetry in history (really). These poems were written in a period of intense grief and pressure in Plath's life, and the result has been read as a cathartic release and testament to Plath's intense, haunting state of mind. Published after her highly publicised suicide, it became like a "relic", as Denis Donahue calls, from the other side.
